The Wanderers Club rejects the implication in the MyBroadband article dated:28/05/2026: "Iconic 138-year-old South African sports club allegedly struck in 674,000-record cyber- attack" that the Club’s website or member systems were the source of the alleged data breach. The article relies on claims connected to www.wanderers.co.za. That domain is not the official website of The Wanderers Club and is not operated by the Club. The Club’s official website is: https://www.thewanderersclub.co.za/

This is a basic factual distinction that is publicly verifiable and should have been checked before publication.

 The Wanderers Club’s public website does not host the Club’s member database, event booking database, access-control records, or the types of datasets described in the article. The Club’s member-related systems are separate from the public website environment.

Yolo, as technology service provider, has reviewed the sample data, file names, and available indicators referenced in relation to the alleged breach. Based on that review, the sample data and file names do not align with the data structures, records, categories, or systems held or managed for The Wanderers Club. 

At this stage, no evidence has been identified linking the alleged dataset to:

 • The Wanderers Club’s official website;

 • The Club’s member database;

 • Club-managed website infrastructure;

 • Yolo-managed systems for the Club; or

 • Known Club access-control or operational systems. 

The article therefore appears to draw a damaging conclusion from an incorrect or unverified domain association. That conclusion is factually unsupported and unfairly prejudicial to The Wanderers Club.

The Wanderers Club takes data protection and member privacy seriously. However, public allegations of a data breach must be based on verified facts. In this instance, the article contains material factual inaccuracies and should be corrected or retracted unless MyBroadband can provide verifiable evidence linking the alleged dataset to The Wanderers Club’s actual systems.
