The gymnastics section held its inaugural Gymnastics Awards evening in 2018. It was a special evening to show off the best our section has to offer and to congratulate them for their achievements. These young people are truly dedicated to their craft and an inspiration to many other young people who seek to become the best that they can be:
Men’s Open Champion2018 Mstr Kadin Chester
Women’s Junior Champion 2018 Miss Cassidy Van Boomen
Men’s Junior Champion 2018 Mstr Adam Sacks
Women’s Novice Champion 2018 Miss Alwandze Dlamini

The awards evening was made a little more special with the first appearance of the official gymnastics section mascot (A competition will be held to choose its name) – see photo.

And after 32 years Wanderers Gymnastics has introduced an all-new battle dress for our girls.

We zhuzhed up our club colours of black, red and gold using modern fabrics and contemporary styling for a really glamourous leotard.

Our girls will be wearing the new leotard in competition from 2019. It will appear in two iterations, the full-house version for girl’s selected to represent Wanderers in competition and a plain version for training only.

A special mention goes to Ms Afanasia Shliakhova to whom we are grateful for her voluntary assistance with our high-performance women’s team.

Ms Shliakhova, previously a member of the Ukranian national gymnastics squad, will be focussing on choreography and competition preparation for our high performance girls through 2019.

Thank you to Mr Colin Warner, gymnastics section Chairman, and the gymnastics committee and also all the gymnastics staff for all their work, without which we would certainly have not achieved the heights we did.
