With the last month of the 2017/18 season approaching, a number of the Wanderers Cricket teams are in contention to win their leagues.
Despite a couple of losses in February, the President’s A team remain in second place with six games to go.
Having won seven games in a row, including the match against runaway leaders Old Parks, the President’s B team are back in contention for the league, with the return game against Old Parks still to come.
The youthful SU2 team, led by Zaid Patel, are also second and the newly formed SA4 team remain in control of their league.
The vagaries of the Gauteng Cricket Board’s transformation policy mean that the Premier League Team could be relegated even if they finish as high as seventh in the league this season. However, good performances in February, with bonus point wins against Marks Park and Soweto Pioneers, has gone some way to alleviate this possibility. There is now daylight between Wanderers and the team currently occupying the relegation position, Pirates, which will hopefully be maintained as the season comes to a close.
