INTERCLUB TIME TRIAL CHALLENGE – PIRATES 20 MARCH 2018

Thank you, everybody, for attending. This was one of the best turnouts we’ve had for years – 114 competitors in total, comprising 31 senior Men, 42 veteran Men and, most encouragingly, 41 Ladies. The points are allocated according to the number of runners in each category so, in the case of the senior men where there were 31 competitors, first home gains 31 points, second 30 points, third 29 points, and so on.

wanderers club Wanderers Athletics - March Update 7

The gaps look big, but if, for example, Kudus/ Chamber/Linden had just two more reasonably quick senior runners gaining approx. 25 points each they would have won the category. So, it’s all about participation!

Obviously, home ground advantage helps and no doubt the leader board will change after the next two events.

Don’t forget to register your tag on piatesclub.co.za/interclub We’ll see if we can get the system up and running for the whole season which will assist in giving us some interesting stats that can be used for most attendance, consistency, fastest times, etc.

Details of April’s leg will be communicated shortly.

THE WANDERERS LEAGUE

The Wanderers League is back! Exciting new format!

No matter how long the race, no matter your age, you can be the winner! Three categories: Males, Ladies, Elites. No age or distance categories!

Scoring system: a percentage score will be allocated based on race time relative to the age and distance specific world record. The average score across the best 4 events will be used to calculate the final classification. At the end of the year, the person with the highest score in each category will be the winner.

Any race you have taken part since January 2018 or any race you will do up to end of November 2018 will count, as long as there are official results.

You need to participate in at least 4 events (any distance) during 2018 and email your results, your age and the link to the race results to [email protected] It is your responsibility to ensure that your result is recorded. No email, no result, no league score.

So, if you have done any race up to now – send an email with your results and enter the league.
