GoBook court booking system

I am pleased to announce that the squash court booking software, GoBook, has recently been updated.

The new features include:
– A more user‑friendly interface for mobile phone users

A facility to top-up your Lights Account online, without having to pay cash at the squash desk.
This now provides much more flexibility for members when they want to play with visitors.  No longer do you need to rely on somebody being at the squash office to handle cash. Bookings can be made online and your lights account can be topped‑up online to cover the visitor fees. When you get to the courts you can immediately activate the lights by swiping your card and then pressing “Enter” in place of swiping the second member’s card to pay for the visitor fee.

On Saturday the 22nd of June Wanderers hosted the annual Thusong / Egoli Challenge Tournament.  This is an annual tournament between the Thusong Squash Development kids and the players from Egoli Squash, competing for the privilege of holding the floating trophy for the following year.  Egoli convincingly won the competition, lifting the trophy from Thusong who won the tournament in 2018.

wanderers club Squash News, June 2019 2The day was well attended and there were plenty of activities and prizes for the younger and newer players to the game of squash. Gary Plumstead ably ran the competitions and matches throughout the morning and the day finished off with a braai.

This year the tournament was sponsored by GrowthPoint Properties who are supporting the “Rising Stars” development programme.  A team of 10 players, chosen from the 30 participants in the tournament, will be going to the GrowthPoint SA Nationals in Pretoria on Saturday the 29th of June. They will be playing exhibition matches prior to the finals, which are being held on an all‑glass court erected in the Menlyn shopping centre.

Thank you to all the League players for registering with Squash SA via SportyHQ.  Registration is a requirement for playing in all League matches and any tournaments recognized by Squash SA. The cost of registration is a small price to pay for the benefit of having a nationwide database of squash players.  With this database, Squash SA is able to better represent players’ interests and motivate for recognition that the game of squash deserves within the national and international sporting bodies.
