Thusong Squash Development
The Wanderers 8th League “WN04” team challenged the Thusong trainees to a match recently. Wanderers just managed to beat the young team 9-7, but the matches were hard‑fought and the game scores impressive!
Graham lost against Bongani, 0-3.
Brady won against Ashley, 3-2.
Martin won against David, 3-1.
Wayne won against Bandile, 3-1.
With support from our sponsors and members of the club, I hope we’ll be able to enter the Thusong team into the Gauteng 9th League in 2020!
Court Maintenance and Upkeep
Courts 5 and 6 have been presenting players with challenges for the past year due to loose floorboards. This has now been rectified by re‑fastening the planks to the floor battens, sanding the surface, re‑sealing the wood and painting the lines.
Upcoming tournaments
From now until the end of the year, we’ll be organizing various activities and tournaments for the club members. As a start, Gary Plumstead is initiating a Wanderers Squash Masters Club Championship tournament from the 12th of September to the 10th of October. This will be split into two age categories – 35 to 49 and 50 years plus. Please lookout for more details and contact Gary for more information.
