Inspiring Those Who Aspire To Be

New members at the squash club

The 2021 squash season is looking positive despite the slump we had in membership and squash activities in 2020.  Obviously, people are looking at activities that get them out of the constraints of Covid‑19 lockdown and squash is one of the first games that gave them that opportunity.  With adherence to the playing protocols initiated by Squash SA, the game of squash can provide athletes with an excellent physical workout whilst maintaining safe social distancing protocols on and off court.

Welcome to all new members over the last couple of months and we look forward to seeing you on court either playing league, getting coaching, playing social games or joining in our Sunday afternoon social sessions at 4pm.

Come and try out our glass court – the only permanently installed full‑glass court in the country!

Social Sunday

Our Social Sunday sessions at 4pm each Sunday afternoon are continuing. These sessions are an excellent opportunity to meet fellow squash members and arrange for matches with new players. Bring along your friends and introduce them to squash.  Visitors are welcome to join in for free for an introductory game of squash with a variety of players.

Liz Addison retires

Liz Addison recently retired from her position as National Director of Squash SA.

For those of you who don’t know Liz, she’s that lady that sat for many years (and for many hours) in the Squash SA office just around the corner of the entrance to the Spinners bar.

Liz’s hard work at Squash SA and willingness to help clubs and players alike will be sorely missed.

Joburg Squash Mens League

With two rounds of the league season completed before the Easter break, the results so far as at 30 April 2021 are as follows:

Joburg Masters Squash League

The Joburg Masters League is very active and popular with the “old timers” over 35 years of age!  The 2nd League matches are played every Thursday at The Wanderers Club and the 4th League matches are held at Chamber Exiles Club.  Results so far are as follows.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR LEAGUE and TOURNAMENT PLAYERS

If you have not already done so, please renew your Squash SA registration via SportyHQ.  Only registered players will be allowed to participate in League matches and accredited tournaments. If you have difficulty in registering, please contact Jacqui Fryer (011 442 8056, jacqui@squashsa.co.za).

Egoli Squash & Thusong Squash Development
