Johannesburg and Districts Championships

The 2020 Snooker Season started of with the Johannesburg and Districts and as it was the first tournament of the season, after the qualifying rounds the Last 16 was played with some upsets happening along the way. Mike Hines beating the defending champion Rafique Limbada, Ryan George beaten by Shehzad Memnon, in the end, it was Fakhrie Gierdien and Elvin Harris that competed for the 2020 title, Fakhrie show superb form but Elvin was not to be outdone with the spectators been shown brilliant tactical and potting prowess from both players, however, in the end, it was Fakhrie Gierdien who won the final 5-3 to be crowned the 2020 Johannesburg and Districts Champion. In the plate, even Adnan Mohamed beat Rafique Limbada 3-0 to win the JHB and Districts Plate Final

2020 Gauteng Snooker League, Tournaments and COVID-19

The 2020 Snooker league has commenced and will see matches been played Monday to Thursday, however with the directive from the Gauteng Sports Council, The Central Gauteng Snooker Association and the implementation of the 21-day lockdown all snooker at the club has been postponed until further notice.

Pro Snooker Qualifier and Tournament

A new initiative has been created by Pro-Snooker South Africa and Sponsored by Q-Masters Durban, the Top 8 players in the country will play in a straight knockout tournament facing 8 qualifiers from around the country. Our very own Fakhrie Gierdien is one of the Top 8 players. In the first qualifier held at the Wanderers Snooker Club, Rafique Limbada beat Adeel Ahmed in the final to book his spot in Durban. All the tournaments are played in Durban and streamed via social media. February saw the first tournament been sponsored by UGB South Africa and Q-Masters, Rafique Limbada lost to David Anderson 5-3  in the last 16 and Fakhrie Gierdien lost in the Semi-Final to Charl Jonck, who beat David Anderson 5-2 in the final of the 1 Pro Snooker Tournament.
