The Pirates Grand Challenge league kicks off on the 8th of May with a home fixture for Mens and Ladies for the MasterCard cup. Wanderers is the current holder of the Kevin De Klerk open club trophy, which enables the club to play in the national tournament which represents the Lions Rugby Union. To participate in the Pirates Grand Challenge the club needs to have 3x open men’s side, 1x U19, 1x U21 and 1x ladies team.

The senior section has completed their phase 1 to phase 3 conditioning programme tying in with Covid Protocols to participate within the league structure.

The Lions have welcomed the women’s sponsorship for all women’s teams who participate in the Lions League and a big thank you to go out to MasterCard for that initiative.

The Womens Master Card club tournament will be televised on SABC.
