Our Hockey Awards evening was held on Saturday 30th October at The Terrace at Chariots. We had a more relaxed, earlier function and, as always, it did not disappoint. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening celebrating our teams and players incredible season of hockey. Thank you to Rich Van Gysen, John Walters, Stu Spooner and Mohini Rayment for assisting in organising the event. And thank you to all our members for bringing their ‘A Game’, you should all be very proud of what achieved this year.
NATIONAL TEAM REPRESENTATIVES
We are so proud of Nompilo Thenjwayo and Nic Spooner for making the SA National team for the upcoming African Cup of Nations in January. The team that finishes top of the tournament will qualify for the Hockey World Cup in India in 2023. Well-done, good luck, thank you for representing Wanderers out there!
Wanderers Mixed Summer League is underway every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening. It is wonderful to have players enjoying social hockey and a few drinks at the club. Thank you, Scott Forssman, for once again running a successful league at the last minute.
JUNIOR HOCKEY UPDATE
The Southern Trappers 5s season is nearing the end at St Stithians. Our teams have done incredibly well against some tough competition, sometimes even playing our own members. We would like to thank our parents for choosing to represent Wanderers in this format, as well as all our coaches who have run their teams incredible smoothly, through load shedding and weather. Thank you!
