The Wanderers Hockey Clubs’ season is well underway and it has been a very busy time. From the 1st – 4th May, Wanderers Hosted the first ever Belogotex Elite Club Challenge Qualifier. A competitive event involving the top clubs in Johannesburg and Pretoria, fighting it out for a place to take part in the Riverside Elite Club Challenge held annually in Durban. Our Wanderers Jockeys won the tournament, beating Beaulieu in an awesome final in front of a packed Wanderers Astro. Our Wanderers Jockettes finished 2nd behind a very strong Crusaders team. Well done to everyone who helped make the tournament a great success. A special mention to Lorcan Nurse for all his hard work and commitment. We should all be very proud.

Senior Winter league is well underway with all of our teams playing good competitive hockey and representing the Club well. Many Junior Colts players have been included in the senior teams this year, allowing them to grow and develop further, exciting for the depth in our Club.

The Junior Hockey section has also been very busy.
Our u5-u11 age groups participated in The Pirates mini hockey tournament on the 4th of May. Great hockey and fun was had by all, well done.

The u13 and Colts age groups have started their Friday Night League Matches. These matches are competitive, fun and a great way for our players to make new friends, play at clubs around Joburg and learn new skills.

On the 18th of May we hosted our annual Wanderers Junior Hockey Tournament. 1000 children were welcomed to our club to participate in a fun-filled day of hockey and sportsmanship. Thank you to the Wanderers Club for your help in making this tournament a huge success.

All in all, a busy, exciting and positive vibe down at the Wanderers Astro. Keep up the hard work, dedication and commitment.
