Premier League Performance of the Season – Delfos v Wanderers (21st March)

A Wanderers team made up of only 4 first team regulars and several 2nd and 3rd XI players, including 15-year-old wicketkeeper Josh Brown making his first-team debut, took on a Delfos team that contained current Protea fast bowler Beuran Hendricks and a number of other first-class cricketers and managed to secure an improbable win.

This seemed unlikely after the inexperienced Wanderers batting line up was bowled out for 91, with Hendricks taking 3 for 7 in 7 overs. However, an exceptional bowling and fielding performance by Wanderers saw Delfos bowled out for 84 – with the captain for the day Dan Poulton, Donovan Scholtz and Sfiso Gumede taking 3 wickets each.

Several players commented that it is was the best game that they had ever played in, whilst coach Jeff Levin pointed out that teamwork and a great a spirit contributed to a spectacular win.
