Imperial Women’s Premier League Champions – Again!
The cricket section’s undoubted achievement of the 2021/22 season was the retention of the Imperial Women’s Premier League. Despite losing many games to rain, the team were able to win when it mattered most. Congratulations go to the captain Kirstie Thomson, her able deputy Jaclyn Kapp (when Kirstie was away on Provincial duty), coach Graham McMillan, manager Maddy Wolmarans and all the players. Special mention goes Marlene Grieb, who finished as the leading run scorer in the league, scoring two centuries.
The Wanderers is the only club with two women’s teams playing in the Lions Cricket Board leagues, the second XI coming third in the President’s league. With Women’s cricket growing, the long-term pipeline of players is being secured through the outreach programme for girls from Ivory Park.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Wanderers members Dom Hendricks, Josh Richards and Aya Myoli for playing their part in the Lions winning the CSA One Day Cup.
A New Icon for the Wanderers
Further cementing the relationship between sponsors Konica Minolta Gauteng and the Wanderers Cricket Club, a new banner has been put up on the bottom cricket oval, one that will hopefully inspire our junior cricketers to greater things. Thanks go to CEO and Wanderers member Jason Kupritz for his on-going support.
Head Coach
After 11 years, Jeff Levin has decided to step down from his position as Head Coach. The Wanderers cricket family would like to thank Jeff for all that he has done for the club. His passion was unrivalled as was his commitment and dedication to the job. We wish him well in his future sporting endeavours wherever they take him. He will always be welcomed at the club as a true Wanderer.
