Welcome to the next edition of the newsletter

And so we march on… Another month of tears and fears and lockdown escalation. Our beloved friend Walter Fluxman and Janis both contracted Covid and with great sadness, we reported that Walter passed on. Long-life Janis and family. Walter was the epitome of a gentleman and a superb human being. It brought a tear to my eye to see the Wanderers flag flying at half-mast again.

To all our members we urge you to stay safe, observe the protocols when playing, and keep the basics of mask-wearing, sanitising and social distancing fore in your minds. To those ill with the disease and to those recently recovered, may your health return fully and hopefully, soon we will be back playing in the fresh open air.

The leagues were cancelled and the positions remained as they were at the end of last month. A league practice was held on 5 June, well attended and Boerewors rolls were enjoyed by all. The drawn pairs for the plate event was finalised with a tight game between Brian Myers / Charles Mechanik and Giovanni Massa / Stan Friedman with the latter the victors.
The various tournaments like the Gauteng Open and Inter-districts were all postponed and so we wait to see when this pandemic hands us a reprieve.

Stay safe and warm and upbeat.
