Wanderers badminton had an exciting close to the month of March and opening into April. Congratulations are in order to everyone who participated in the tournaments. We are delighted to mention successes and have a lot to report.
From 28 March until 01 April the under 15s South African Championships were held. Three of our Wanderers junior members were selected for the Southern Gauteng team of six. They played brilliantly and were crowned national champions. Well done to Ziming Chen, Zeming Chen and Nicalen Dorasamy who were also graded.
Wanderers juniors Tahir Naidoo, Layla Naiyesh and Chloe Lai were selected and played in the invitation side, winning games.

The Silver Eagles tournament was played in Pretoria from 03 to 08 April Sincere congratulations to Gail McLoughlin who played in the Southern Gauteng A side and won the Silver Eagles SA title in the ladies singles event. Johan Croukamp was the winner in the men’s singles and mixed doubles events, giving him a total of 167 South African badminton titles. The Wanderers was also represented in the Southern Gauteng B side by Les Brazier and Attie Kennedy.

Gail McLoughlin, with her trophy for winning the Silver Eagles SA ladies singles at the Silver Eagles (over 60s) tournament held recently in Pretoria.
Johan had just returned from playing in the All England badminton championships where he retained his world gold medal, making this his 8th World Championship.

Congratulations to the Southern Gauteng u15 Juniors team, who recently participated in the U15 South African Championships.
The team played brilliantly and were crowned National Champions in the team event for 2022. The culmination of hard work, team work and dedication.
