A busy month for badminton with the annual prestigious tournament for Pakistani players plus tournaments for the under 13s and under 15s.

Pakistani players tournament

Over 100 players took part in the tournament held at The Wanderers. Participants came from the Durban ,Polokwane, Pretoria and Johannesburg areas. Hamza and Haroon of The Wanderers Badminton section did our club proud by reaching the final.

The tournament involved some outstanding badminton. The finals were held on the Sunday night.

The teams in the finals were from Pretoria and The Wanderers. It was incredibly closely fought with long rallies and the second game going to setting. Congratulations to the winning team from Pretoria and a huge WELL PLAYED to Hamza and Haroon.

The prize giving and traditional Pakistani meal rounded off the event. The organisers and Committee are thanked for their role in ensuring a fantastic event. We look forward to the next in a year’s time.

Juniors

Our juniors did well in the under 13 and 15 tournament held at Alberton with a competitive and high standard of games been played. Emely Li who played in both sections won all the her games in the under 13 and under 15 sides;- singles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles. Trained/coached by David Calvert at The Wanderers Club, she was the winner overall.

In the under 13 boys men’s doubles and the under 15 men’s doubles, Zeming and his brother Yiming where runners up. They are trained/coached at The Wanderers Club by Les Brazier
